Silk was born Fredericton New Brunswick Canada. Ilkay is the daughter of Peter, a teacher and an actor and playwright who is a top performer. Peter was educated at St. Thomas University. Anna recounts some of the earliest moments of her existence when she would go to watch her mother's performance during play rehearsals. Silk was featured in many commercials while she was an infant. She was in 1997 when she earned her bachelor's degree at St. Thomas University. Early theater work includes at least two productions at Theatre St. Thomas: Seven Menus and The Kitchen. Silk relocated to Toronto for further development of her acting profession in November 1999. She then, over the decade that followed, she relocated to Los Angeles, California. Seth Cooperman is her future spouse, whom she was introduced to at a workshop in Los Angeles at an Actors Workshop in 2007. In 2009 they were legally married in December of 2009. On April 10, 2011 the couple renewed their vows during the context of a Jewish ceremony in Fredericton following her conversion to Judaism.
